Training details
& Information

**Starting at only 1 week old we kick off with smells and light touch. However we might do things a little different than others because we prepare our puppies for families and every day surroundings .

SMELLS- Fresh Laundry, Clean towels & Blankets, Paper products like cardboard and paper bags, Real Leather belts, Cotton clothing worn by our kids. Smell of our other dogs, Grooming tools with our dogs hair, Fresh cut grass, Leaves, Fresh potting soil, New toys.

TOUCH- Activating the neurological pathways we stimulate the toes, tail, ears, tummy, back and face. Only a few seconds each day.

**At 2 weeks old we kick off sounds to reduce that startled nervous habit.

SOUNDS- Yes we buy baby fireworks and not near them but in the room we do poppers and whizzers making those loud quick and long sounds. The vacuum cleaner of course, pots & pans clanking, kids playing and screaming, loud TV, tool sounds like the drill and utility fans.

Every night our pups sleep to Pet meditation music.

**Come 3 weeks old were moving into potty introduction-but still continuing all the 1st & 2nd week introductions.

POTTY LEARNING- Once a puppy turns 3wks they can eliminate on own and they naturally walk away from beds, this is when we introduce a soft plush calming bed in addition to the wire crate over top the litter and the turf. Allowing multipe smells for searching the potty space. As they get older it will be moved further away from the bed.

**Now at 4 weeks old were getting a little more advanced

GROOMING- Yes we start grooming at 4wks, brushing the ears mostly.

TEXTURES & SURFACES- Textures is a big one, plastic, rubber, rocks, turf, balance boards, cushions, foam and different texture toys and unique toy sounds including loud toddler toys.

WEANING MOM- Mom usually starts naturally weaning and spending less time in the playpen, puppies start introduction on wet food only with goats milk.

BATH TIME- We do a small, quick water only bath one time a week starting now as a form of introduction.

**Here we are at 5 weeks old and big things happen now.

DOG DOOR - We setup a space to allow the puppies to start utilizing the dog door and learning the flap is safe. We have a secured area during this 30min a day of outside play on multiple surfaces such as Rock, Bricks & Turf (only for the babies) then back into the indoor playpen.

STROLLER RIDES- The babies get to go on walks in the stroller to introduce to lots of sounds and smells while safely in the stroller.

**We have made it to 6 weeks old and they are big babies now.

SOCIALIZING- We take puppies in the car in a carrier ( The one used to fly in). We use a puppy bed and take them to Home Depot sitting in the shopping cart (NO TOUCH RULE). We allow our friends to play in our home after removing shoes and washing hands (new people new smells)]

SOAK KIBBLE- We start soaking kibble in goat milk to introduce new texture (soft only).

CRATE INTRODUCTION- The crate is put into the play area left open to allow them to choose to sleep and play, making it feel safe and welcoming.

HARNESS/LEASH- We start putting on a harness and leash so they feel it on the body, drag around, see its safe and slowly start pressure to it, helping them to not pull and flip around with it. Yes its too big, but it still helps.

BASIC COMMANDS/OBEDIENCE- It's a great age to start recall to "come" learn "Sit" and "Crate" Sometimes my children teach shake! Every week till they go home they will do this daily.

**At 7 weeks old, you think were done but we arent.

BONE RESOURCE GUARDING- Allowing puppy to chew on a large bone while being pet and loved on, removing and giving back. Helps reduce resource guarding.

SOLO CRATE TIME- Each puppy will get 30min a day inside the crate and the fly carrier. Allowing them to self sooth and understand its a safe space. They do get a bone at this time.

**I can't believe were at 8 weeks old already!

CRATE NIGHT TRAINING- We do not expect perfection, were getting them ready to be on own at new family and sleep 3hr stretches between potty breaks. Let's just say this is the longest and most tiring week of breeding.

KIBBLE TEXTURE-It's much more firm and less moisture, we wait till 8wks minimum to prevent choking and by 9wks when they go home they will start completely hard no need for moisture.

Your now at 9wks old, they have learned basic commands, been working on the crate and have had several things already introduced to them. It's so much more than playing and wrestling. Its preparing them to learn even more when they come home with you.
